The best way to get your permanent visa in Australia is to be sponsored by your employer. Your Graduate Temporary Visa lets you get a job in Australia in your chosen field, and get the work experience you need to be eligible for a permanent work visa. Getting a job in Australia after graduation greatly enhances your chances of obtaining permanent residence through employer or State sponsorship.
As a primary applicant, only one Temporary Graduate visas can be held at any given time. Applicants may fall within one of two streams – the Graduate Work stream of the Post-Study Work stream. While both of these form avenues for applicants to work and study in Australia upon completion of their studies, there are slight differences between the two streams.
The Graduate Work stream is for international students who hold an eligible qualification and have graduated with skills and qualifications required for an occupation on the list of eligible skilled occupations.
In comparison, the Post-Study Work stream is for international students who have graduated with a higher education degree from an Australian education provider, regardless of their field of study and is only available to students who applied for, and were subsequently granted, their first Australian student visa on or after 5 November 2011.
