Eligibility Requirements
For Visa Applicants:
- You must be providing long-term care to a relative in Australia.
- Your relative must be unable to receive the required care from other relatives, hospitals, or community services.
- You must be genuinely willing and capable of caring for your relative.
- You and all dependent family members in the visa application must meet health and character requirements.
- You must be sponsored by the relative requiring care or their partner.

- Subclass 116: Applicants must be outside Australia at the time of applying and visa grant.
- Subclass 836: Applicants must be in Australia when applying and when the visa is granted.
How to Sponsor Someone for a Carer Visa?
To sponsor someone for a Carer Visa, you need to:
- Fill out Form 40 (Sponsorship for Migration to Australia).
- Provide the completed form to the applicant for submission with their visa application.
Sponsor Responsibilities:
- Provide support, accommodation, and assistance to the visa holder.
