The Child Visa (Subclass 101) is a permanent visa that allows a child outside Australia to migrate and live with their parent, who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.

With This Visa, The Child Can:
- Migrate to Australia as a permanent resident to live with their adoptive parent.
- Study and access Medicare, Australia’s public healthcare system.
- Apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.
- Work and study in Australia.
- Sponsor relatives to come to Australia.
- Travel freely to and from Australia for 5 years from the visa grant date.
Note: After 5 years, the child must apply for a Resident Return Visa (RRV) to maintain their permanent resident status for re-entry to Australia.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the Subclass 101 Visa, the child must:
- Be sponsored by their parent or their parent’s partner.
- Be single and dependent on the parent.
- Be younger than 18 years old.
- Be outside Australia when the application is lodged and when a decision is made.
- Meet the health and character requirements.
Sponsor Requirements
- The child’s sponsoring parent must be:
- An Australian citizen.
- The holder of an Australian permanent resident visa.
- An eligible New Zealand citizen.

- 75% of applications processed in 21 months.
- 90% of applications processed in 34 months.
