The Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 888) allows entrepreneurs, investors, and business owners to continue their business and investment activities in Australia permanently. This visa is for holders of an eligible Subclass 188 visa, or in certain cases, holders of Subclass 444 or Subclass 457 visas.

- Permanently (Indefinite stay in Australia).
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Subclass 888 Visa, you must:
- Hold a relevant stream of the Subclass 188 visa, or in relation to applications in the Business Innovation stream, hold:
- Subclass 188 visa in the Business Innovation stream.
- Subclass 444 (Special Category) visa.
- Subclass 457 (Business (Long Stay)) visa (in certain circumstances).
- Show ongoing business involvement.
Common Requirements
To be eligible for the Subclass 888 Visa, you must:
- Have held a provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (Subclass 188) and met all the requirements of the stream you first applied for.
- OR, be the spouse or de facto partner of a Subclass 188 visa holder in the Investor or Business Innovation stream, and meet the primary requirements of the permanent Business Innovation and Investment visa in the relevant stream.
- OR, have held a Special Category Visa (Subclass 444) and met the requirements of the Business Innovation stream.
- Not have been involved in any unacceptable business or investment activities.
Additional Requirements
- Maintain a good compliance record with the laws of the Commonwealth and the state/territory in which you operated your business or investment.
- Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory Government, or by Austrade on behalf of the Australian Government.
- Meet the health and character requirements applicable to the Subclass 188 visa.
- Have a genuine commitment to continuing business or investment activity in Australia.
- Have met all the requirements of the stream in which you held your Subclass 188 visa.
- Have no outstanding debts to the Australian Government (applies to all family unit members included in the application).
- Enter Australia by the specified date once granted the visa.
- Any dependent family members included in your application must not marry or enter a de facto relationship before arriving in Australia.
