The Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) is a temporary visa that allows young adults to have an extended holiday in Australia and work to help fund their trip.
Stay Duration
Up to 12 months.
With This Visa, You Can:
Applicants can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as they like within this period.
Can study for up to four months.
Can work for a single employer for no more than six months.
Eligible applicants may apply for a second or third Working Holiday visa.
To apply for a Subclass 417Working Holiday Visa, you must:
Be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive), except Canadian, French, and Irish citizens who can be 18 to 35 years old (inclusive).
Hold a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction:
Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan (excluding official or diplomatic passports), United Kingdom.
Apply online from outside Australia
Not have previously held a Working Holiday visa.
Not include partners or dependent children in the application.

Second & Third Working Holiday Visa
Second Working Holiday Visa
Applicants must complete three calendar months of specified work in regional Australia while holding their first Working Holiday visa.
Third Working Holiday Visa (From 1 July 2019)
Applicants must complete six calendar months of specified work in regional Australia while holding their second Working Holiday visa.

Processing Times
Processing times vary based on individual circumstances and government policies:
75% of applications processed within 70 days
90% of applications processed within 4 months.
Important: Voluntary work does not count towards the specified work requirement. Applicants must provide evidence of paid full-time employment in regional Australia.
