The Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462) is a temporary visa that allows young adults to have an extended holiday in Australia and work to help fund their trip. This visa differs from the Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) in the eligible countries and additional educational requirements.
Stay Duration
Up to 12 months.
With This Visa, You Can:
Applicants can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as they like within this period.
Can study for up to four months.
Can work for a single employer for no more than six months.
Eligible applicants may apply for a second or third Working Holiday visa.
To apply for a Subclass 462 Work and Holiday Visa, you must:
Be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive).
Hold a passport from an eligible country:
Argentina, Austria, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, Uruguay, United States of America, Vietnam.
Apply online from outside Australia
Not have previously held a Working Holiday visa.
Not include partners or dependent children in the application.
Meet health and character requirements.
Additional Requirements Based on Country of Nationality
Depending on your country of nationality, you may also need to:
Have a tertiary qualification or have completed two years of undergraduate university study.
Have at least functional English.
Include a letter of support from your home government.
Second & Third Work Holiday Visa
Second Work Holiday Visa
Applicants must complete three calendar months of specified work in regional Australia while holding their first Work and Holiday visa.
Third Work and Holiday Visa (From 1 July 2019)
Applicants must complete six calendar months of specified work in regional Australia while holding their second Work and Holiday visa.
